OAK & ELK was born from a love for timeless design, expert craftsmanship, and nature’s quiet elegance.
Ana’s journey began long before OAK & ELK. A passionate musician, she attended Interlochen Arts Academy, nestled in the heart of Michigan’s breathtaking landscapes. Surrounded by towering oak trees and the quiet grace of elks roaming freely, she developed a deep appreciation for nature’s strength and beauty—a love that would later shape the soul of OAK & ELK.
Years later, when she and Javier—her husband and business partner—set out to create a brand, they wanted a name that reflected both their inspiration and values. OAK & ELK was the perfect choice—symbolizing resilience, timelessness, and the harmony between elegance and strength.
Coming from a family with deep roots in the leather industry, Ana and Javier were driven by their passion for quality craftsmanship. Ana, in particular, searched endlessly for a leather bag that was both elegant and minimalist, yet built to last. But every option fell short—mass-produced, poorly made, or designed for fast fashion rather than longevity.
Determined to create something different—bags with soul, built for a lifetime—Ana and Javier embarked on a journey to craft handmade leather goods that stand the test of time. OAK & ELK was born, blending Michigan’s wild beauty with Mexico’s rich tradition of artisanal craftsmanship.
